Overview

The guide below is akin to a “General reset” guide. It intends to address unknown or sporadic scenarios not covered by dedicated articles in the Troubleshooting section of the Velixo Help Center. Please check those dedicated guides before trying the methods below.

Note: We recommend following the methods below in the order they are listed.

Method 1: Relaunch add-in, save, and reopen

  1. Click the Add-ins button on the Home ribbon in Excel and click the Velixo NX button from the My Add-ins list:

  1. Save and close the document.

  2. Reopen the document.

If relaunching the add-in did not resolve your issue, proceed to Method 2.

Method 2: Clear the Microsoft Excel cache

Below are abbreviated guides to clearing the Office cache.

For a full guide, refer to Microsoft’s Clear the Office cache article.

Warning! Clearing the Office cache will result in a logout for all add-ins.

Warning! Refreshing workbooks will take longer than usual the first time after clearing the Office cache.

Windows

For Office version 2108 or later, the following steps configure the Office cache to be cleared the next time Office is reopened:

  1. From the ribbon in Excel, navigate to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Trusted Add-in Catalogs.

  2. Tick the Next time Office starts, clear all previously-started web add-ins cache checkbox.

  3. Select OK.

  4. Close Excel and make sure that no Excel-related processes are present in the Processes tab in Task Manager.

  5. Restart Excel.

MacOS

  1. Quit Excel (command+Q) and make sure that no Excel-related processes are present in the Activity Monitor tool.

  2. Delete the contents of the ~/Library/Containers/com.Microsoft.OsfWebHost/Data/, ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef and ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Caches/ folders on your Mac if they exist.

Hint: In Finder, you can press command+shift+G to navigate to the necessary folder:

Hint: Ensure Finder is set to display hidden files to enable locating the folders. To toggle this setting, press command+shift+. (the period key).
  1. Restart Excel

If clearing the Office cache did not resolve your issue, proceed to Method 3.

Method 3: Reinstall Velixo NX

Note: This method is not applicable in scenarios when the add-in is deployed centrally by the organisation’s admin. In such cases, the Add-ins store is unlikely to be visible or accessible by the user and the Clear the Microsoft Excel cache method is recommended.

  1. Go to the Add-ins menu in the Home ribbon in Excel and click the More Add-ins button.

  1. Select the MY ADD-INS tab, click the … button on the Velixo NX tile, click Remove, and confirm by clicking Remove again.

  1. Install Velixo NX by following the Installing Velixo NX article.
