Error: The current selection is invalid for this operation

Overview

While using the Velixo NX Snapshot feature to create a new workbook, the following message is displayed:

The current selection is invalid for this operation.

Cause

There is a known issue where different versions of Excel operate differently based on the version of Windows:

Windows 11: this issue can occur with either the Current Channel or Beta Channel release of Excel.
Windows 10: this issue can occur with the Beta Channel release of Excel.

Workaround

We have communicated this issue to Microsoft and are investigating how Velixo NX can be modified to avoid this issue. In the meantime, there are two potential workarounds:

Method 1 - manually switch to the Snapshot

By hovering your pointer over the Excel app (in the Windows task bar), you will be able to see that Velixo NX was able to create the requested workbook:

However, the Excel issue prevents Velixo NX from switching to that workbook and removing the temporary VelixoCopyWorkbook worksheet:

You can manually switch to the new workbook and delete that worksheet:

... leaving you with the requested Snapshot copy.

Method 2 - create a single-sheet Snapshot in the current workbook

When working with a single worksheet, you also have the option to create the Snapshot in the current workbook:

This option avoids the Excel issue and creates the requested Snapshot.
